Humboldt Universität Berlin, Summer 2008

In this summer, I have been to Berlin and completed a German course offered by the Humboldt University from July 21 to August 15 2008. The course I attended was "Deutsch in Berlin" and it lasted four weeks. In the course, I did not only learn more about the German language. I also acquired more knowledge about the culture, history and politics of Germany. The course fee was 790 Euro and the accommodation fee was 300 Euro. In total, I spent 1190 Euro. The course included an 100-hour language class and a 10-hour German lecture. Other than a daily language class and lectures, the University also arranged different cultural activities, entertainment and excursions for us.

Humboldt University is one of the oldest and most famous universities in Germany. The University offered three different summer courses and I chose "Deutsch in Berlin" as I wanted to know more about the capital of Germany. The University had arranged an excursion to Potsdam for us on a Saturday. Potsdam has an important role in the history of Germany. In these four weeks in Berlin, I did not only learn German every day in class, but also in my daily life outside the classroom. I spent a lot of time visiting museums in Berlin in my leisure time. There are a lot of museums and galleries in Berlin, for example the Historical Museum, the Museum of the DDR, the Jewish Museum, the Hamburger Train station, etc. I also visited a concentration camp in the countryside.
