This international conference on German as a Foreign Language through Cross-cultural Perspectives to be held at HKU will examine the current outlook, opportunities and challenges regarding the study of German as a foreign language; and evaluate the outcome and impacts of outreach projects for promotion of German language and culture in Germany, Hong Kong and Mainland China respectively. It is envisaged that by looking through the prism of layers of perspectives concerning these issues under discussion during the keynote lectures, a better understanding of the values and vision of German as a foreign language subject in Germany, Hong Kong and Mainland China will be attained.

The conference also features seminars by keynote speakers who will present their findings and evaluations on pilot schemes, pioneer projects and independent research with regards to diverse strategies and innovations for enhancement of German verbal, linguistic and writing skills through cooperative learning and target programmes.

All events are open to members of the HKU community, teachers and students of Hong Kong schools and universities, as well as interested members of the public.
