About the speaker:
Mr. Tietz joined the German Foreign Service with an initial posting in the International Law Division in 2000 and has served as the Deputy Consul General of the German Consulate General Hong Kong since September 2015. During the fifteen years as a diplomat, Mr. Tietz has served in a number of capacities. He was Head of Legal and Consular Affairs at the German Embassy in Bangkok from 2002 to 2006, Consul for Cultural and Legal Affairs at the German Consulate General in San Francisco from 2006 to 2009, and Deputy Head of International Civil Law Division of the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin from 2009 to 2012. Prior to his posting in Hong Kong, he was an Elected Member of the Staff Council (“Personalrat”) of the Foreign Office. Mr. Tietz holds a Master of Laws from the Duke University, USA and a law degree from the University of Hamburg.
