Unter dem Titel „Kritische Öffentlichkeit in Deutschland und Hongkong“ findet am 28. Mai 2019 der zweite DeutschHongkonger Alumni-Talk statt, der vom Goethe-Institut und der Deutschen Alumnivereinigung Hongkong veranstaltet wird. Talk-Gäste sind Armin Reinartz, Leiter des Hongkonger Global Innovation Hub der Friedrich Naumann Stiftung für die Freiheit, und Dr. Peter Qiu, Fernsehkommentator bei Phoenix Satellite Television und Gastprofessor an der School of Communication der Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). Die Moderation übernimmt Timothy Wong, Absolvent des German Programme der University of Hong Kong und Mitarbeiter für Presse- und Kulturarbeit im Deutschen Generalkonsulat Hongkong. Alumni deutscher Kultur- und Bildungsorganisationen sowie alle Interessierten sind herzlich zu dem Expertengespräch und zur anschließenden Diskussion eingeladen. Zum Auftakt der Veranstaltung gibt Armin Reinartz einen Überblick über das weltweite Engagement für politische Bildung
der Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit und geht dabei insbesondere auf deren Aktivitäten in Hongkong ein, wo er
seit November 2017 das Global Innovation Hub der Stiftung leitet. Sein Gesprächspartner Dr. Peter Qiu, der in
Deutschland studiert und promoviert hat, hauptberuflich als Fernsehjournalist tätig ist und daneben an der HKBU
Globalisierung von Medien und Kommunikation unterrichtet, vermittelt einen Einblick in die Hongkonger
Medienlandschaft und deren Entwicklung infolge der gesellschaftlichen Veränderungen. Im Gespräch erörtern die beiden
Experten, welche aktuellen Themen die Zivilgesellschaft in Deutschland und Hongkong bewegen und wie sich engagierte
Bürger in der Öffentlichkeit Gehör verschaffen. Anschließend beantworten sie Fragen aus dem Publikum. Zum Abschluss
der Veranstaltung sind alle Besucher zur Diskussion und zum Austausch bei deutschem Essen und Getränken eingeladen. Der Deutsch-Hongkonger Alumni-Talk ist eine neue Veranstaltungsreihe vom Goethe-Institut und der Deutschen Alumnivereinigung
Hongkong. Vierteljährlich finden Expertengespräche über aktuelle Themen aus Gesellschaft, Wirtschaft, Kultur und Bildung in der
Bibliothek des Goethe-Instituts statt. Die Veranstaltungen werden vom Deutschen Generalkonsulat Hongkong und dem Deutschen

28.05.2019 (Tue) | 19:00 - 21:00 | Goethe-Institut Hongkong, Library Under the title ‘Critical Public in Germany and Hong Kong’, the second German-Hong Kong Alumni Talk organized by the Goethe-Institut and the German Alumni Association Hong Kong will take place on 28th May, 2019. The guests of the talk will be Armin Reinartz, the head of the Global Innovation Hub of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation in Hong Kong, and Dr. Peter Qiu, who is a TV commentator at Phoenix Satellite Television and guest professor of the School of Communication at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). Our moderator is Timothy Wong, a graduate of the University of Hong Kong's German Program and is now working in the German Consulate General Hong Kong, responsible for press and cultural affairs. Alumni of German cultural and education organizations as well as all those interested are cordially invited to the expert discussion and to the subsequent open discussion. At the beginning of the event, Armin Reinartz will give an overview of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom’s (FNF) global commitment to political education, covering in particular their activities in Hong Kong where he has led
the Global Innovation Hub of FNF since November 2017. His interlocutor Dr. Peter Qiu, who studied and earned his
doctoral degree in Germany, is an active TV journalist and teaches Globalization of Media and Communication at the
HKBU. He will give an insight into the Hong Kong media landscape and its development as a result of social changes. In
the talk both experts will discuss the current affairs in Germany and Hong Kong which arouse social awareness, and
how citizens make themselves heard in the public sphere. Afterwards they will answer questions from the audience. We
are pleased to invite our guests and participants to enjoy German food and beverages after the talk. The German-Hong Kong Alumni Talk is a whole new event series, launched by the Goethe-Institut Hongkong and the German Alumni Association Hong Kong. Four times a year we will hold an expert discussion on current sociopolitical, economic, cultural or education topics at the Goethe-Library. The event is supported by the German Consulate General Hong Kong and the German Academic Exchange Service.
